As I have stated in the past many times, I feel that abstract painting differs from "realism" or objective art by the fact, for me, in objective painting the destination or final painting is pretty clear at the beginning of the artwork. And although there is also a destination for the abstract work, it is to me, unknown at the start as I usually do not begin (at least consciously) with any preconceived idea about what the finished piece will look like.
After 2 years at SUNY on Long Island and 4 years active duty in the United State Marines, I enrolled and studied Graphic Design, at Rochester Institute of Technology in upstate New York. Afterwards I held several design positions and was the Art Director for an affiliate network TV station for 12 years. In the late 1990s I shifted my focus to my fine art career and photography. My paintings have been juried into and won awards in competitions and group shows in Maine and Arizona. Besides being a former Vice President of the Scottsdale Artist League in the late 90s, I am also a past member of the Sebascodeagan Artists in Maine, the Boothbay Regional Arts Foundation in Maine, and the Sonoran Arts League in Cave Creek, Arizona as well as...
