"Redhead in a Turquoise Jacket" is an Acrylic painting by Bill Tomsa depicting his wife on a leisurely stroll down a side street in Jerome, Arizona. This small town perched high on top of Cleopatra Hill (5,200 feet) between Prescott and Flagstaff in central Arizona is a former copper mining town almost abandoned in the late twentieth century. But now it is a thriving tourist destination saved by the arts community that has sprung up in it.
After 2 years at SUNY on Long Island and 4 years active duty in the United State Marines, I enrolled and studied Graphic Design, at Rochester Institute of Technology in upstate New York. Afterwards I held several design positions and was the Art Director for an affiliate network TV station for 12 years. In the late 1990s I shifted my focus to my fine art career and photography. My paintings have been juried into and won awards in competitions and group shows in Maine and Arizona. Besides being a former Vice President of the Scottsdale Artist League in the late 90s, I am also a past member of the Sebascodeagan Artists in Maine, the Boothbay Regional Arts Foundation in Maine, and the Sonoran Arts League in Cave Creek, Arizona as well as...
