This sepia colored square format photograph by Bill Tomsa, titled Sonoran Desert Icon, presents to the viewer a classic example of the saguaro cactus, many of which live to be 200 years old. This one with it's numerous arms is likely well over 100 years old and going strong in the White Tank Mountain Regional Park, west of Phoenix, Arizona.
After 2 years at SUNY on Long Island and 4 years active duty in the United State Marines, I enrolled and studied Graphic Design, at Rochester Institute of Technology in upstate New York. Afterwards I held several design positions and was the Art Director for an affiliate network TV station for 12 years. In the late 1990s I shifted my focus to my fine art career and photography. My paintings have been juried into and won awards in competitions and group shows in Maine and Arizona. Besides being a former Vice President of the Scottsdale Artist League in the late 90s, I am also a past member of the Sebascodeagan Artists in Maine, the Boothbay Regional Arts Foundation in Maine, and the Sonoran Arts League in Cave Creek, Arizona as well as...
