Artist's Description

Vintage 1-26 Glider, a pen & ink sketch by artist Bill Tomsa, illustrates a single seat sailplane at rest and waiting for it's next foray into the wild blue yonder. These gliders officially known as the Schweizer SGS 1-26, were produced from 1954 thru 1979 and are still very popular among soaring enthusiasts today and have their own Association.

After 2 years at SUNY on Long Island and 4 years active duty in the United State Marines, I enrolled and studied Graphic Design, at Rochester Institute of Technology in upstate New York. Afterwards I held several design positions and was the Art Director for an affiliate network TV station for 12 years. In the late 1990s I shifted my focus to my fine art career and photography. My paintings have been juried into and won awards in competitions and group shows in Maine and Arizona. Besides being a former Vice President of the Scottsdale Artist League in the late 90s, I am also a past member of the Sebascodeagan Artists in Maine, the Boothbay Regional Arts Foundation in Maine, and the Sonoran Arts League in Cave Creek, Arizona as well as...
