Description
Closed and Abandoned is a plein air acrylic painting that updates the condition of a building on a local Airport. The Administration Office (or "Admin" for short) was the headquarters for the airport manager, general "hangout" for local pilots, rooms for ground instruction of new student pilots and, oh yes, rest rooms when needed.
The airport where I got my first airplane ride when I was about 9 years old in the mid '50s and where I trained to be a Private Pilot 26 years later, I had not much seen the place since leaving the area over 30 years ago. Although saddened to see the current state of abandonment of this old structure, once the "heart" of the airport, I felt compelled to memorialize it in this painting, on a sunny early Spring day. (Possibly more to come before it disappears completely.)
