This painting was done when my wife and I lived (for 13 years) in Topsham, Maine and really needed clothing like this. I took on a self-imposed challenge in April of 2005. I wanted to see if I could paint 100 paintings in 30 consecutive days. I started on April 1st (April Fools Day...how appropriate) and figured I would have to create, from scratch, 3.3 acrylic paintings each day for 30 days. On day one I did exactly ONE painting and immediately thought I was in trouble. LOL. All one hundred paintings were 5"x7" and prepared in advance...cutting to size and several coats of gesso. On April 30th at about 10pm I finished number 100! This painting, Sweatshirt Front was number 47. Whew!
After 2 years at SUNY on Long Island and 4 years active duty in the United State Marines, I enrolled and studied Graphic Design, at Rochester Institute of Technology in upstate New York. Afterwards I held several design positions and was the Art Director for an affiliate network TV station for 12 years. In the late 1990s I shifted my focus to my fine art career and photography. My paintings have been juried into and won awards in competitions and group shows in Maine and Arizona.
